ANNUAL PARISH MEETING 2025
PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Over the last year, Everdon Parish Council has continued to meet on a regular monthly basis, usually on the second Monday of the month. Following local elections on 1st May, there will be a new Parish Council to whom I wish continued success. I would like to thank all those retiring Councillors for their hard work and commitment to Everdon Parish Council over the last 7 years and more. .
Most agenda items have been routine and have included the condition of the roads and pavements, together with the effectiveness of the village drainage system. The Council is in ongoing discussions with West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) regarding drainage issues at Fawsley Road and Well Lane, together with increased potholes and tree works on Newnham Road. Without an effective Parish Council, the village would not have a local voice to engage with the Local Authority.
Whilst most planning applications have been non-contentious, the attention of the Parish Council has been brought to a couple of unacceptable applications which did not enhance the village in any way. Thankfully, one of these was declined by the Planning Authority and the other was dealt with on a retrospective basis, which in the view of the Parish Council was unacceptable as it did not support current planning laws. Our relationship with the Unitary Councillors at West Northamptonshire Council remains strong and the Parish Council is very grateful for their ongoing support. .
The Parish Council received another clean audit, thanks largely to the hard work of the Parish Clerk, Ruth Scott to whom the Council is extremely grateful.
Finally, please remember that the Parish Council exists to serve the community of Everdon, so your interest and support is extremely important.
As residents of Everdon, we are extremely privileged to live in such a beautiful location, but this doesn’t happen by itself. It needs Parishioners to make a commitment to doing what is best for its future wellbeing. Let’s keep “Unity in the Community”
Kevin Nichols
Chairman, Everdon Parish Council
